What is WISDOM?

WISDOM is a fully featured software package specifically designed for the restaurant delivery service industry.  It is provided and supported by Data Dreamers LLC.  Over twenty-five restaurant delivery services around the nation use WISDOM to take phone orders, receive online orders, dispatch drivers, manage menus, pay restaurants, market to customers, and everything else that goes into running a successful Restaurant Delivery Service.  WISDOM was born in 1998 and is known throughout the industry as a proven, reliable, and scalable software package.

Briefly, what can WISDOM do for my Restaurant Delivery Service?

WISDOM makes it extremely easy for you to manage all aspects of your Restaurant Delivery Service.  There are too many features to list here, but to mention just a few:

• Dispatching: WISDOM's intuitive dispatching screen allows your dispatcher to see the age and status of all orders and drivers at a single glance.  Orders can be assigned to a driver with simple drag-n-drop.  Right-clicking an order allows the dispatcher to get MapQuest directions from the restaurant to the customer, text-message the order to the driver, see the customer's average tip, modify the order, and many other options.  Drivers with wireless web capability on their mobile device can update the status of her/his own orders, eliminating the need to contact the dispatcher directly.  The driver logout screen will calculate the exact amount the driver has collected and owes at the end of her/his shift.
• Menus:  Creating and managing menus, items, options, and prices is a snap with our intuitive menu editor.  No longer do you need a "web person" to do it -- anyone who can click a mouse can learn it.  Even create accounts for your restaurants enabling them to login to their individual menu and change their own prices.  All menu changes are immediately reflected in your online menus, including the PDF versions your customers can optionally download for printing.
• Reporting:  Immediately be alerted to incoming Internet orders.  Download daily Excel Spreadsheet reports of your daily cash flow and restaurant accounts payable.
• Marketing:  WISDOM has a rich array of features allowing you to stay in touch with your customers.  You can track and categorize your customers according to several criteria (e.g. zip code, how many times they order, etc).  You can create "coupon codes" that customers can redeem when they order online.  Our E-mail broadcasting feature allows you to then send the predefined coupon to a specific customer category.

How much does WISDOM cost?

WISDOM is the most affordable software package on the market for both large and small Restaurant Delivery Services.  Our pricing model consists of small per-order charges with a one-time setup fee of $250.   We offer substantial discounts for Restaurant Delivery Services averaging over 150 orders per day.  There are no monthly fees or minimum charges.  We have a vested interest in your success.  If you aren't making money, we aren't making money!

What equipment do I need to use WISDOM?

The only thing WISDOM requires is a PC with an Internet connection.  We strongly recommend an ordinary DSL/Cable modem connection, but you can use dial-up as well.  WISDOM's reports come in the form of downloadable Excel spreadsheets, so you'll want at least one computer with Excel installed on it.  Other than that, there is no software to install. WISDOM is special in that you'll never have to spend thousands of dollars on server computer(s) or expensive database software.

Does WISDOM fax orders?

You bet!  For brand new Restaurant Delivery Services, we do the faxing for free.  Start-ups won't need a fax server, or line, at all.  This is possible because WISDOM can be configured to use the fax server here in our office, using our fax lines.  After your volume starts averaging over 10 faxes per day, we will configure and send you a fax server that will fax from your own fax line.  The fax server is basically just a used pc with Linux and some custom fax software installed, and costs $150 (plus whatever it costs to ship to your office).  Alternatively we can continue to provide faxing services from our lines for 2.5 cents per page.

How fast is WISDOM?

With a broadband internet connection, WISDOM is just as fast as any program you would install on your PC.  WISDOM has gone through several years of optimization and streamlining, making the order-taking process lightning fast.

How long does WISDOM take to setup?

Your "clean slate" site can be online two days after we receive your order.  It will then take you a few days to enter your menus (WISDOM's menu editor makes this as painless as possible).  As mentioned above, if you have existing menus in some sort of database format, we can save you the work by importing them for you.

What happens if my Internet connection goes down?

Broadband connections are normally very reliable (the likelihood of losing your broadband connection is about the same as the power going out).  Most broadband connections come with a free dial-up account.  Dial-up makes a perfect backup connection method in case you have trouble with your broadband connection.  In the last five years we know of only a few instances an Restaurant Delivery Service has had to actually use a backup dial-up connection for more than a few hours.

How many terminals can my Restaurant Delivery Service use with WISDOM?  Do additional users cost extra?

You can have as many terminals and/or user logins as needed, at no additional cost.  A typical busy Restaurant Delivery Service taking over 100 orders per day will have three to five terminals.  A single broadband Internet connection can be shared by up to eight terminals using WISDOM at the same time.  WISDOM was designed to be in a multi-user environment, with several CSR's taking phone orders simultaneously.

What kind of support/upgrades do you provide, and do I have to pay extra?

Technical support and software upgrades are provided at no charge.  We are available on Instant Messenger Monday-Friday 9-5 to answer questions and provide technical support.  We can also be easily reached via email or telephone on nights and weekends.  WISDOM is growing fast and new features are constantly being added.  We prioritize our feature development on what you, our clients, are requesting most.

Does WISDOM do Credit Card Processing?

Yes. WISDOM has completely integrated and terminal-less credit card processing.  All transactions are run behind the scenes through the Internet when an order is taken (with the exception of advance orders which are not authorized until just before they are to be delivered ).  No IC verify or dedicated cc line is needed.  A merchant account with our processing partner and a $30 fee for a virtual terminal is all that is required.  Our processing partner offers competitive rates.  You can obtain an merchant account with out partner here

Can I download and run WISDOM on my own computer?

All of your data, including digital order print-outs, restaurant menus, restaurant reports, and customer lists are able to be downloaded to the Restaurant Delivery Service owner's computer.  However, WISDOM is much more similar to an online application service such as EBay than to a "regular" program such as Microsoft Access that can be installed on your computer.  Just as you can't "install" EBay on your computer, WISDOM is not available in that form either.

Is my Restaurant Delivery Service's data private and secure?

Part of the Data Dreamers service agreement states that we must hold any and all data in strict confidentiality.  Our redundant, industrial-strength servers are housed in a secure datacenter, which has emergency diesel generators and multiple direct connections to the Internet Backbone.  WISDOM performs secure, automated, nightly offsite backups for each delivery service, so in the event your hard drive crashes your data is still available to download again.

WISDOM stands for "Web Interface Supporting Delivery Order Management".

I want to switch from my current software to WISDOM.  Can my existing menu/customer database be transferred to WISDOM?

Absolutely!  We aren't called "Data" Dreamers for nothing!  If you have an existing database of menus and/or customers that you can provide as an Excel spreadsheet, Access database, comma delimited text file, or much any other organized digital format, we will most likely be able to do an import.

My Restaurant Delivery Service has existing software we use to take phone orders.  Can we use WISDOM for just the online ordering capabilities?

Yes.  Although most of WISDOM's development effort and power lies in its marketing, phone ordering / driver dispatching / internal operations, we have a few clients that use WISDOM for the sole purpose of accepting online orders.  It works great for them!
